Library thing and Del-ic-ious

OK I've had a play in Delicious searched and saved a few things, I've also added a book to my collection in Library Thing - yey. By the way I've had an account with library Thing since August last year and haven't been near it since. I must say though that the Zeitgeist tab is wonderful and maybe I should pay more attention to Library thing. Also on the work front we are looking at replacing our LMS and for a very small library Library thing may well be worth looking into.
Does anyone use Library thing as a regular tool to keep your own readings in order, to talk to like minded readers and discover new readings?

Delicious is also introducing a new sharing platform called Newsfeed which at the moment only feeds to you ; the old platform was Connection news. I assume News feed will be more integrated with Twitter and Facebook and the like? I've since read some of the feedback from the Talk tab http://www.librarything.com/topic/119385
which explains a little better where they are heading with the changes.
My main feeling for all of these tools we are playing with especially Endnote, Delicious and Library thing is that as a non digital native I look at each tool individually and use them in isolation. I have yet to feel confident in one particular interface to manage everything (well they don't promise the world but  they get close...).
Is it because I have learnt a little about a lot of tools or is it because of my hesitancy as  non digital native? I'd be interested in some feedback from the group as I'm sure we are of all ages and experiences.

  1. Hi Caire,
I liked your post. I've just spent a couple of hours looking at Delicious and Diigo and i kind of feel the same, in that im spending all this time and energy looking at these new technologies but what i really want is one main multi connected ....something where i can go and get everything i need done and feel connected, without having to keep track of 15 different passwords. Diigo is actually pretty useful in that it is very similar to Delicious but you can add notes and highlight bits of web pages which is a nice feature. I want to use all these things as i can see how they could potentially make life, work and study easier, but will I? Im really not sure.
    Thanks,
    Jacob
